Recently, Parker Bray, a local entrepreneur spoke to JCC Entrepreneurship class. Parker is a Holland High School and St. Bonaventure Marketing graduate. While at St. Bonaventure, Parker was asked to be a part of the business accelerator program. This program helped him to create a business using things that he loved, which in his case were his hands. During Covid, Parker found his love for woodworking and started a small business making signage for friends and family. After creating a partnership with his high school tech teacher. Parker and his Tech teacher created Maker-Movement. His high school teacher creates the curriculum for the projects, and then they sell the "kits" to the 4th - 6th grade market. The current kits available include a toolbox, a blue tooth speaker, and a piggy bank that helps the customer learn about financial literacy. The customer starts with the toolbox and then continues to build their tool supply with the other projects. Parker answered questions from the class as well as discussed, the projects they are currently working on and was able to give some advice to each class member. Parker's advice was, "You should always be leveraging people around you no matter what. Create connections, networking is the key to success." Thank you, Parker, for helping RCS students experience your success! https://maker-movement.org/

Randolph’s Odyssey of the Mind teams had a great season this year! Odyssey of the Mind is a creative, problem-solving program. We had two teams this year. The Division II team of 6th graders consisted of Keller Brown, Ryleigh-Ann Champlin, Aurora Fleischman, Zoey Hernandez, Callie Peters, Liana Peyton, and Serena Smith. This team placed 4th in their Long-Term performance, 3rd in Style, and 2nd in Spontaneous. This ranked the team 4th overall at the regional competition. The Division I team consisted of both 4th and 5th graders: Isabel Brown, Kieran Brown, TJ Gennings, Olivia Greene, Hunter Peyton, and Aiden Wilson. At Regionals, this team placed 1st in Long-Term, 2nd in Style, and 3rd in Spontaneous. This ranked the team 2nd overall and earned them a place at the State Competition! At the State Competition, the Division I team ended up in 5th place in the State! What an amazing accomplishment! Congratulations to all of the RCS team members on an amazing season!

Mrs. Beaver’s 6th grade recently organized and ran the 19th annual Pennies for Paws campaign at the elementary school. Students had to make collection jars and posters for each classroom, as well as write and make announcements. The class set a goal of $500 this year, and came very close! They were able to collect $430.70 to donate to the Humane Society. There was also a competition between classrooms to see who could bring in the most pennies. This year’s Top 5 Classrooms are: 5th place: Mrs. Beaver’s 6th grade with $23.49 4th place: Mrs. Sadowski’s PreK with $23.97 3rd place: Ms. Cady’s 1st grade with $24.60 2nd place: Ms. Dalton’s Kindergarten with $26.29 And in 1st place was Mrs. Shevlin’s 1st grade with $32.95! Thank you to all families who were able to send in donations this year, and start saving those pennies for next year!

Our Cardinal Community came together to support our troops stationed overseas! Thanks to the incredible efforts led by Mrs. Sample and the dedication of our elementary students and staff, we've collected 276 items for our brave soldiers! From toothbrushes to candy, every contribution makes a difference. We would like to thank everyone who participated! The Blue Star Mothers group will package and send these supplies along with others to the troops. Your generosity truly embodies the spirit of community and patriotism.

Our elementary students embraced the "Heart Healthy Cardinal" spirit throughout the month of February! From energetic exercises to mindful stretches, they worked towards better heart health. Each day, they tracked their activities on their challenge boards, and we couldn't be prouder of their dedication. To celebrate their achievements, we hosted a special assembly, during which Ms. Stephanie Brown and Ms. Alicia Ekstrom led our students in fun-filled stretches and a pound exercise class! It was a fantastic way to wrap up the month and commend our students for their commitment to staying active and healthy.
